Northern's Not The NEC weekend was well attended and has been declared a success!

Despite the BHPA not attending the NEC Sport and Leisure show, Northern decided to host their own event.

With building improvements in progress it was a race against time to get the 'mega-store' ready for the event. Staff worked late into the Friday evening to ensure that when eager shoppers arrived on Saturday morning, the place looked brimming with gear.

UK Airsports brought their range of gear, making it the only indoor venue to check out a huge range of paragliding products. Pilots travelled from as far afield as Guernsey and the South Coast to be able to try out harnesses from 5 manufacturers and see 6 brands of varios.

"There's just nowhere else in the UK with such a good choice in stock" said South Wales pilot Pete Gallagher

The weekend was less intense that the NEC equivalent and certainly from our point of view a lot less stressful. It was nice to have time to chat with each customer making the whole thing more enjoyable.

Customers could chill out with a coffee watching a DVD in the chill lounge or have a knock about on the table tennis table. The BHPA flight simulator was also available for demo!

The band on Saturday evening were well appreciated by the hardcore few and the froth was knocked off more than the odd beer in the Croglin Castle next door.

All in all the wekend was a great success and we have plans to make it an annual event and have ideas for making it even better.
