If your weren't at last weekend's Homegrown Festival in Wales (8-10 Sep) then you missed a superb event. Good weather, good company, good music and of course good beer made for a good time by all. Well us anyway!

Cross Country Magazine wanted their new Homegrown event to be a mix of good flying, good music, good food and a place that brings the UK free flying community together. Well, if this first event is anything to go by, they will become anual not-to-be-missed weekends in future.

Northern were there in force with our mobile shop offering all the gear a pilot could ever wish for, and we had 20 demo wings from 7 manufacturers to try before you buy. Even with bleary eyes after the Sat night party we manned our stand and flew our wings on the Sunday before the pack-up and long drive back North.

Fforest Fields Camping ground has got to be an ideal location. Nestled in a lovely valley with many excellent flying sites within easy reach, the base is ideal with good landing and take-off areas for paramotors and free-fliers and also with space for a winch operation too. Over 1000 pilots and friends enjoyed the sun with a good choice of food and drink on offer as well as talks and slide shows from some of the worlds best.

Saturday night was party night with live music, drink flowing freely and a great DJ to dance into the small hours to. The whole weekend was infused with a pleasant atmosphere; pilots talking flying, non-flyers chilling and chatting and kids having fun.

For anyone into this sport we can't think of a reason not to make this a date for your diary. It has also got to be the best way to check out which gear to get next and actually have a go in/on it.

A big thanks to everyone who made the weekend as fun as it was and see you all next year...
