The most gruelling paragliding event in the world, the Red Bull X-Alps got under way today as contestants set off to cross the Alps from north to south by foot and paraglider...
30 athletes must negotiate some of the most demanding and inhospitable terrain carrying around 20kg of gear when not flying. The race goes on day and night, come rain or snow, until the first pilot lands in Monaco. We have two British competitors, Ulric Jessop and Adrian Toase - good luck to both!
