Skywalk Poison 2 Quantum Leap? PDF Print E-mail

[Quantum leap]: huge advance, shattering all previously accepted parameters.  The amazing new serial class wing from Skywalk with it's aluminium fabric and staggering performance could well be just this...

It may sound a bit of a stretch to call the SKYWALK POISON2 a quantum leap in paragliding technology.

However, it is absolutely fitting to call the silver, mirrored-finish material, aerofabríxTM [Al] 29, which SKYWALK has developed in cooperation with the high-tech materials developer Aeroix, an absolute quantum leap.

With a sensationally low weight of only 29g/m² (compared with around 40+ for normal fabris), this cloth demonstrates outstanding aging characteristics; over 90% of UV rays are reflected, and therefore cannot enter and damage the cloth fibres.

The advantages for the POISON2 pilot are many.

skywalk_poison2_proto.jpg The low weight provides, for a high performance glider, unusually good take-off behaviour. The flight characteristics of the POISON2 prototypes during extreme flight were surprisingly moderate for a  high performance glider. The skywalk team was therefore able to stretch the design parameters accordingly, and ultimately the POISON2 offers an unequalled performance potential in the 2-3er class.

The very low drag of the innovative line concept, with double-spliced high performance lines, in interplay with the subtle accelerator system and up-to-date profile, all contribute to the extremely efficient, unbelievably stable acceleration capability.

SKYWALK developed the POISON2 using only the most valuable and highest quality materials, and has followed this through to the smallest of details. Specially developed, forged suspension line screw locks have been used on the optimized low-drag risers to form a perfect connection with the lines. Also, on the lower surface the extremely light though tear-proof Porcher Marine skytex 27 is used.

The concentrated innovation strength of the POISON2  is more than impressive, it is an absolute milestone in paragliding design and development.

More information as well as the first production models will be available in September.
DHV certification is already done for the sizes XS, S, and M.
